Hampton Roads Community Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Hampton Roads Community Foundation
Introduction
Welcome — and congratulations on pursuing further education. The Hampton Roads Community Foundation offers undergraduate college scholarships and many donors are supporting students like you. One online application can place you in consideration for multiple awards for which you qualify.
Who should apply (eligibility overview)
- There are more than 80 undergraduate scholarships available; each has its own eligibility requirements.
- Many awards expect applicants to demonstrate financial need, be enrolled full time while receiving the scholarship, and either have graduated from a South Hampton Roads high school or be graduating from high school this spring.
- Some scholarships are restricted to graduating high school seniors, others are open to current college students, and a few support only upperclassmen. Read each scholarship’s criteria carefully.
Before you start
- Review the full list of scholarships to identify those that match your situation and qualifications. Also check the list of special scholarships — you may find additional matches.
- Collect all required documents and information before logging into the application portal; having materials ready will speed up the process.
How to apply
- Create an account and complete the single online application in the scholarship portal. One general application allows consideration for all scholarships for which you meet the criteria.
- You can save your application and return later to finish it. Read the portal instructions and follow all directions closely. Provide every requested item to ensure you’re considered.
Important deadlines and timeline
- Applications for the upcoming academic year are posted online beginning December 1.
- The completed application must be submitted by March 1 unless a different deadline is specified for a particular scholarship.
- Applicants will be notified by email in April whether they were selected. Award decisions will also be visible in the portal at that time.
Renewals and maintaining your award
- Most scholarships are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study. To retain a renewable award you must submit an annual renewal form and provide a transcript showing you remain in good academic standing.
Selection process
- After you apply, the Foundation will automatically review you for every scholarship for which you qualify. Because funds are limited, the Scholarship Committee selects recipients based on the best match to each award’s purpose and criteria.
Quick tips
- Read each scholarship’s eligibility requirements closely — many have specific restrictions.
- Gather transcripts, financial information, recommendations, and other supporting materials before beginning.
- Submit your application well before March 1 to avoid technical problems or missing documents.
