Glenn Moon Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Association of Retired Teachers of Connecticut
Interested in becoming a teacher? For the 47th year in a row, we are offering financial assistance to qualified Connecticut high school seniors planning to pursue a teaching degree. To be eligible you must be a Connecticut resident who will graduate from a Connecticut secondary school in 2026 and be committed to entering the field of education.
Eligibility and Evaluation
- Eligible candidates: Connecticut residents who will graduate from a Connecticut secondary school in 2026 and intend to enter the teaching profession.
- Applications will be assessed on:
- Academic record
- Character and personality, including community service
- Interests and educational activities
- Financial need, as determined by the SAI (Student Aid Index) and the FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS)
Scholarship Awards
- One four-year award: $2,000 per year. Recipients must maintain strong college grades (upper bracket) and remain enrolled in teacher-preparation coursework for all four years.
- Three one-year awards: $2,000 each, for freshman year.
Application and Submission Instructions (2026)
- Only the 2026 online application will be accepted. Applications from prior years will not be considered because the form changes each year.
- Complete every section of the 2026 online application. Save the completed application as a PDF and name that file using this format: LastName_FirstInitial (for example, Smith_J.pdf).
- Collect all required supporting documents, save them as PDFs, and put them in a single folder titled with your LastName_FirstInitial.
- Email the folder (or the files contained within it) as an attachment to the appropriate Board Member for your area by March 31, 2026. Applications received after that date will not be accepted.
How to Find the Correct Board Member
- Use the Town/School List on the application website. Towns are listed alphabetically; locate your town, then find your high school. The right-hand columns of that list provide the name and email address of the Board Member assigned to your area.
- If your school is not on the Town/School List, send an email with your TOWN and the NAME of your school to glennmoon.scholarship@gmail.com.
- After emailing your completed application PDF, you should receive a confirmation from the Board Member acknowledging receipt.
Important: Do not send your completed application to ARTC or to Glenn Moon Scholarship directly. Send it only to the Board Member listed for your school area by March 31, 2026.
