AAUW Carlisle Higher Education Scholarship

AAUW Carlisle Branch supports women’s educational advancement and awards at least one $2,000 Higher Education Scholarship each year to a woman from Cumberland County or Perry County who is currently enrolled at an institution of higher learning. Recipients have come from a variety of backgrounds, including non-traditional students, women in doctoral programs, students pursuing associate or nursing credentials, and those in bachelor’s degree programs.
Eligibility (required)
- Be a woman who has lived in Cumberland County, PA or Perry County, PA for a minimum of one year.
- Have completed at least one year of college-level coursework (minimum 24 credits).
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Be enrolled in a program that upon completion awards an associate degree (or equivalent credential such as RN), bachelor’s degree, or a higher degree from a regionally accredited college, university, or institute.
- Submit the completed application and an official or unofficial college transcript by January 20, 2026.
- If asked, attend an in-person interview in Carlisle on February 21, 2026. The Scholarship Committee will notify all applicants by February 1, 2026 about whether they are selected for an interview.
- If chosen as a scholarship recipient, attend the AAUW Carlisle Branch Scholarship Banquet on April 28, 2026 at 6:00 PM in Carlisle and deliver formal remarks outlining your educational and career goals.
- Consent to AAUW Carlisle Branch using your name, photograph, and/or biographical information for publicity.

- Recommended materials and preparation:
- Names and contact details for two references.
- Estimated college costs for the 2026–27 academic year and information on financial resources you will use to meet those costs (scholarships, loans, employment income, etc.).
- Your college transcript in PDF format (official or unofficial) so it can be uploaded with your application.
- A personal statement of no more than 500 words.
