Zale Perry Scholarship Application
Scholarship Sponsored by Academy of Underwater Arts and Sciences
Eligibility and overview
- Open to residents of the United States or Canada.
- Applicants must be certified scuba divers.
- Must be currently enrolled in a graduate (Master’s) degree program — graduates and non-Master’s students are not eligible.
- Eligible fields of study include:
- Aquatic biology, ecology, and related marine science disciplines
- Marine conservation and education
- Diving medicine and hyperbaric studies
- Ocean engineering
- Underwater archaeology
Required application materials
- Completed application form (available from the website — choose the “SCHOLARSHIP” menu item to access the form)
- Resume or curriculum vitae
- A 500-word essay outlining your project and specifically explaining how you would use the scholarship funds
- Two letters of recommendation
- Photocopies of all scuba/diving certification cards
How to submit
- Assemble the full application packet and mail it to:

- Applications must be complete and postmarked no later than August 31 of the application year.
Timing and notification
- Scholarship recipient will be selected by September 30 each year.
- The selected applicant will be notified within a few days after selection.
