WEAC Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Wisconsin Education Association Council
Introductory statement
The WEAC Scholarship was created to encourage children of eligible members to enter the education profession. Recipients may receive $1,450 per year, renewable for up to four years to cover tuition and fees, provided they continue to meet eligibility requirements.
Who may apply
- The applicant must be the child of a WEAC member in good standing, or the child of a person who died while a WEAC member.
- The applicant must be a high school senior enrolled in a public school governed by a publicly elected school board.
- The applicant must intend to major or minor in education and plan to work in the education field in Wisconsin after graduation.
- Academic standing: the applicant must rank in the top 25% of the graduating class OR have a cumulative, non-weighted GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application. (Grading scale used: A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0.)
- The applicant must demonstrate participation in school and community activities.
Required application materials
All supporting documents can be uploaded on Page 2 of the Scholarship Application.
1. Completed scholarship application form.
2. An official, current high school transcript.
3. An essay (maximum 300 words) explaining why the applicant wants to enter the education profession and what the applicant hopes to accomplish.
4. A statement signed by the applicant’s guidance counselor or appropriate school administrator certifying the applicant’s cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale and certifying class rank.
5. Two letters of recommendation:
- One from a classroom teacher who can attest to the applicant’s academic performance and school-related activities.
- One from a community member (outside the school) who can speak to the applicant’s involvement in community activities.
Award details
Scholarship recipients will receive $1,450 annually for up to four years to be applied toward tuition and fees, as long as they remain eligible under the scholarship rules.
