Eat Right Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Louisiana Academy of Nutrition and Diatetics
Introduction
Each year LAND awards scholarships to support and encourage Louisiana students pursuing careers in dietetics. Below are the application requirements, deadlines, and details for each available award. Carefully review eligibility and required materials for the scholarship(s) you plan to apply for.
General applicant responsibilities
- Review the scholarship descriptions below and note eligibility requirements, submission deadlines, and all requested materials.
- Complete the appropriate application form in full; incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
- Verify that all supporting documents arrive by the scholarship’s stated deadline.
- Ensure transcripts and recommendation letters are submitted to LAND as described (see email below).
- Request that each recommender include the following information in their letter:
  - Applicant’s full name
  - Name of the scholarship the applicant is applying for
  - The capacity in which the referee knows the applicant
  - Length of time the referee has known the applicant
  - Assessment of the applicant’s potential as a student, professional, and leader
  - The applicant’s personality traits, strengths, and weaknesses
  - The applicant’s financial need (if applicable)
  - Any other information the Scholarship Committee should consider
- Include a personal letter with your application that addresses these prompts:
  - Why do you need a scholarship from LAND?
  - What are your plans for your degree after graduation?
  - What about the dietetics profession most interests you?
Submit transcripts and letters
- Transcripts: Upload your most recent college transcript (official or unofficial) in the application or have it emailed directly from your college/university email account to LAND@eatrightlouisiana.org.
- Letters of recommendation: Upload directly to the application or have referees email their letters directly from their email addresses to LAND@eatrightlouisiana.org, per the requirements listed for each scholarship.
Scholarship awards and deadlines
Undergraduate Scholarship
- Purpose: Awarded to up to two exemplary undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited Louisiana college or university dietetics or nutrition program.
- Award amount: Up to two scholarships of $500 each.
- Eligibility: Must be a current LAND student member for the 2024–2025 school year.
- Application deadline: Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
- Required materials:
  - Completed application form with personal letter attached
  - Most recent college transcript (uploaded or emailed from institution email to LAND@eatrightlouisiana.org)
  - Two (2) letters of recommendation (uploaded or emailed by referees). Required referees:
    - Dietetics Program Instructor
    - Any non-relative individual
Graduate Scholarship
- Purpose: Awarded to up to two outstanding graduate students enrolled in an accredited Louisiana graduate dietetics or nutrition program.
- Award amount: Up to two scholarships of $500 each.
- Eligibility: Must be a current LAND student member for the 2025–2026 school year.
- Application deadline: Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
- Required materials:
  - Completed application form with personal letter attached
  - Most recent college transcript (uploaded or emailed from institution email to LAND@eatrightlouisiana.org)
  - Two (2) letters of recommendation (uploaded or emailed by referees). Required referees:
    - Dietetics Program Instructor
    - Any non-relative individual
Irene Toliver Pyburn Merit Scholarship
- Purpose: Awarded to the most outstanding dietetics intern in Louisiana.
- Award amount: $1,000 to a single recipient.
- Eligibility: Must have been formally accepted into an internship or supervised practice program in Louisiana before receiving the scholarship.
- Application period: Opens April 1, 2026 — Closes May 31, 2026.
- Required materials:
  - Completed application form with personal letter included (submit via the application link)
  - Most recent college transcript (uploaded or emailed from institution email to LAND@eatrightlouisiana.org)
  - Two (2) letters of recommendation (uploaded or emailed by referees to LAND@eatrightlouisiana.org). Required referees:
    - Current or past dietetics program instructor
    - Any non-relative individual
Important
It is the applicant’s responsibility to make sure every component of the application is submitted by the stated deadline. Applications that are incomplete or missing required materials will not be considered. If you have questions about submissions, contact LAND at LAND@eatrightlouisiana.org.
