Virginia DAR Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Virginia Daughters of the American Revolution
Eligibility
- You must be a senior enrolled in an accredited Virginia high school or a Virginia homeschool program.
- You must intend to pursue further education at a Virginia college or university.
- You must plan to earn an undergraduate degree in a field other than nursing.
- Applicants who are entering a Virginia community college transfer pathway that leads to a four‑year degree are eligible.
Required Materials (submit in the exact order shown; do not use paper clips or staples)
All items must be placed in one envelope.
1. Signed DAR Scholarship Cover Sheet (applicant’s signature required).
2. Virginia DAR Scholarship Application.
3. High school transcript of grades (may be enclosed in a sealed envelope).
4. Personal statement by the applicant (up to 500 words) outlining career goals and why the scholarship is sought.
5. Recommendation letter from a teacher or guidance counselor (may be enclosed in a sealed envelope).
6. Virginia Scholarship Financial Need form (may be enclosed in a sealed envelope).
Important Guidelines
- All documents, transcripts, and recommendation letters must arrive together in a single envelope.
- Electronic submissions are not accepted.
- Selection is based on both academic merit and demonstrated financial need.
- The scholarship must be used during the academic year in which it is awarded.
- Hard‑copy applications must be received by the state chairman at the address shown at the top of the page no later than January 17th. LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
